Terre des Hommes

Highlights

This report was written in response to the need for qualitative information regarding the child protection concerns in Harshm IDP Camp in Erbil. The camp has been hosting Iraqi IDPs since September 2014 and had in 2015 more than 260 families are residing there, according to the camp database. The camp has a population of about 1400 persons, more than half of which are below 18 years of age.

Information regarding the child protection situation is needed to specialize and focus the assistance offered. Therefore, Terre des Hommes Italy, as the main child protection actor in Harshm, conducted an assessment of the child protection situation in the camp, which aimed to include all the families with minors currently residing in the camp. The assessment was carried out by the Child Protection Unit in April 2015, as part of a child protection project of Terre des Hommes Italy.
